GOING THE DISTANCE
August 20th - Wide Release
http://www.goingthedistancethemovie.com/
Now that he and his friends are finished high school, Nick expects to spend his first
summer of freedom hanging out with his best friends on Tofino beach and loving his best
girl, Trish. But when Trish suddenly moves to Toronto to follow her career ambitions,
Nick figures that the only way he'll keep her is to marry her. First, he has to get to
Toronto and Trish, before her sleazy boss has his way. Forget flying: Nick's best
buddies Tyler and Dime tag along, and their journey will follow the scenic route - from
Tofino to Toronto in Nick's busted-up RV. And when the guys pick up a couple of cute
hitchhiker chicks, Nick's cross-country quest for love gets a whole lot more
interesting...

5. Looking for Angelina Filmmakers Looking for Public’s Help
It was the story of the century. Events in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario caused uproar
around the globe. On Easter Sunday in 1911, Angelina Napolitano, a 28-year-old Italian
immigrant and mother of four, killed her abusive husband with an axe as he lay asleep in
their bedroom in Sault Ste. Marie’s "Little Italy."
The global media frenzy surrounding the events of Napolitano's trial and the
discrimination that it highlighted in Canada's legal system are the subjects of the film
LOOKING FOR ANGELINA, being produced by Platinum Image Film, shot on location in Sault
Ste. Marie. Written by Alessandra Piccione and Frank Canino, this film marks the first
time the story of Angelina Napolitano is being told on screen.
Directed by award-winning Director Sergio Navarretta and starring Lina Giornofelice
(OWNING MAHOWNY, NARC) as Angelina, LOOKING FOR ANGELINA is the eye-opening true story
of one woman's struggle and an evermore relevant source of fascination in the
media-obsessed society we live in today.
The film crew, which includes award-winning DOP Peter Benison, CSC (CHICAGO, BATTLEFIELD
EARTH) and a countless number of Sault Ste. Marie residents, recreated "Little Italy’s"
James Street of 1911 on its original site, where the events of Easter Sunday actually
took place. The dramatic trial was shot in black and white in a single take using
multiple cameras on digital video.
Navarretta also plans on using interviews with historians and acquaintances of Angelina
and her family as a documentary epilogue to the film's dramatization of this real-life
story. Navarretta still has hopes that someone will come forward who knew Angelina or
her children so the film can offer some closure on an obscure but important case in
Canadian history. "Angelina's final act of desperation, although gruesome, opened the
doors to dialogue on sexual and spousal abuse and remains an early, poignant example of
the discrimination women, especially ethnic women, faced in the Canadian legal system,"
says Navarretta. The Platinum Image team is asking anyone who may have known the
Napolitano family or Angelina's descendants to contact them.
To arrange interviews with the Director or Producer, please contact Stefania Indelicato
(Assistant to the Producer) by telephone at 416-214-4288.

HAM & CHEESE
July 30 -- Hamilton, Toronto (limited engagement)
http://www.blackwalk.com/hamandcheese
HAM & CHEESE is the story of two talentless actors attempting to make it in the cruel
world of showbiz. Without an ounce of talent between the two of them and their only
strength being persistence, they'll do almost anything to attain their dream. Except
let it go. Their stories intertwine as the film culminates in a comedy of tragic
proportions.
The cast includes Jason Jones and Mike Beaver (also co-scripters), Samantha Bee (from
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart), Jennifer Baxter (from Love, Sex and Eating the Bones)
and Dave Foley and Scott Thompson (from Kids in the Hall). This film was directed by
Warren Sonoda and produced by Mihkel Harilaid, Jason Jones and Mike Beaver.

Regent Theatre, July 30-Aug 5, call theatre for showtimes

NOTHING
July 30th -- Montreal
http://www.odeonfilms.com
What happens when two losers are somehow given the power to make things they hate
disappear? Meet David (David Hewlett, TREED MURRAY) and Andrew (Andrew Miller, CUBE),
roommates and friends united in mutual frustration with the petty irritations of life.
Nothing would make them happier than if the outside world of nasty neighbours, callous
bosses, malicious landlords and successful ex-girlfriends would just disappear.
Director Vincenzo Natali (CUBE, CYPHER) brings us the surreal tale of what happens when
their wish finally comes true. Also starring Marie-Jos'e Croze (THE BARBARIAN
INVASIONS).

Remember...1st Rule of Film Club: Tell Everyone About Film Club!
Thirty-eight years and still going strong, THIS Magazine is one of Canada's
longest-publishing alternative journals. Founded by a gang of school activists in 1966,
and originally called This Magazine Is About Schools, the modern-day THIS focuses on
Canadian politics, literature and culture but, in keeping with its radical roots, never
pulls punches. Subversive, edgy and smart, THIS is the real alternative to that.
