*Please see below for information on a special First Weekend Club screening and event.*
From the First Weekend Club:
"...ILL FATED is a fantastically woven yarn about Jimmy (Paul Campbell) who has just finished high school and is desperate to get out of his small town for good. If doing what you want were only that easy, as Jimmy's friends and family have other plans for him. Matters are further complicated when Jimmy's father (Peter Outerbridge) returns after 17 years of abandonment to reconcile his past... only to have his past quickly catch up to him, sending everyone, including Jimmy, down a road destined for disaster!"
Join director Mark Lewis, film cast members and producers for a lively Q&A following the early evening screening of this award-winning film on Friday,
June 3rd at the Tinseltown in Vancouver (exact film times TBA). Then grab your movie ticket stub and head over to the post-screening party at Wilson‚s Steak House (on Beatty and Robson) and redeem it for one free martini, courtesy of Vodka.

3. Call for Canadian Film Ambassadors in Vancouver & Toronto!
Now this is a job ad worth drooling over: First Weekend Club (http://www.firstweekendclub.ca), an organization dedicated to the promotion of Canadian films, is looking for a few good men (and women) to serve as
Canadian Film Ambassadors.
What is a Canadian Film Ambassador you may ask? Let us illuminate. This special individual is someone with a flair for both talking and writing and
who is dedicated to seeking out great Canadian films and promoting them.
The Canadian Film Ambassador is hypnotically charming and has a passion
towards film that knows no boundaries.
So what‚s the lifestyle of a Canadian Film Ambassador like? Imagine being
able to be the first to get to attend, along with a friend, Canadian premiere screenings for FREE ˆ you‚ll make friends fast, that‚s for sure. After seeing a film that especially catches your fancy, all you need to do is talk about it to everyone you know, or just happened to meet at the super store, send an email about the film to at least ten friends and carry out a few other top-secret, undercover tactics.
Think you have what it takes? Send us a note between 100-250 words explaining why YOU would make the ideal Canadian Film Ambassador along with
a 50 word bio to: Katherine@firstweekendclub.ca.
There is no other job quite like this. Not only do you get to watch some
great films for free, but you are playing a key role in helping to support
Canadian film and culture.
We‚re looking for ambassadors that are representative of all sorts of groups: students, seniors, actors, filmmakers, writers, and even „average
Joes‰ (pre-reality TV exposure). Applications are being accepted from Vancouver and Toronto only. All interested parties must send us the requested information by Friday, June 10th.

Remember...1st Rule of Film Club: Tell Everyone About Film Club!
Thirty-eight years and still going strong, THIS Magazine is one of Canada's longest-publishing alternative journals. Founded by a gang of school activists in 1966, and originally called This Magazine Is About Schools, the modern-day THIS focuses on Canadian politics, literature and culture but, in keeping with its radical roots, never pulls punches. Subversive, edgy and smart, THIS is the real alternative to that. Visit THIS Magazine's new-and-improved website http://www.thismagazine.ca!
